Lumitex Introduces Latest Generation of VersaLight

Lumitex Medical Devices, of Strongsville, OH, released the next generation of its VersaLight single-use surgical device. The new offering features improved suction, a new cable management system, and uniform, cool, shadowless light. Extra relief holes in the new VersaLight increase suction effectiveness and allow surgeons to wipe the tissue dry while preventing tissue grab. The surgeon can also choose between more or less suction with a conveniently located finger-controlled aspiration hole. Using existing operating room (OR) light sources, the VersaLight has a more uniform spot light, which improves visualization in deep cavity surgery, helping minimize blood loss and optimize navigation.

The device’s new cable management system features spiral wrap-arounds, keeping multiple cables and tubing bundled together with minimal effort. They are easy to apply, remove, and reposition during surgery, according to Lumitex. The VersaLight’s 4-in-1 design brings suction, irrigation, retraction and light. Ergonomically designed for comfort in any hand position, the company says VersLight can be inserted directly into deep cavities, small openings, under flaps, or in lateral margins, helping to access, visualize, irrigate and clear the surgical site, while saving operative time, space and cost. It attaches easily to existing OR equipment, requires no capital investment, and offers a lower cost-per-use. Its unique combination of features makes it ideal for gynecological, general, colorectal, plastic and other surgical procedures.

VersaLight is designed to withstand approximately 10 lbs. of retraction force. It also irrigates at the push of a button to provide a controlled fluid stream on demand. In addition, VersaLight attaches to standard hospital tubing to provide sterile irrigation from a sterile solution bag with a pressurized cuff or any standard infusion pump.
