Company Profile
Memry Corporation provides design, engineering, development and manufacturing services to the medical device and other industries using the company’s proprietary shape memory alloy and polymer extrusion technologies. Medical device products include stent components, catheter components, guidewires, laparoscopic surgical sub-assemblies and orthopedic instruments as well as complex, multi-lumen, multi-layer polymer extrusions used for guidewires, catheters, delivery systems and various other high-end interventional medical devices.
Memry Corporation is the leading independent manufacturer of nitinol components to the medical device industry and is the world's largest producer of nitinol tubing, wire, strip and components. The company's products use the special properties of nitinol shape memory alloys (SMA) and proprietary polymer extrusion technologies.
Memry sells primarily to the medical device industry. The shape memory properties of the company's nitinol materials are ideal for medical stent components, catheters, guidewires and laparoscopic sub-assemblies, which provide superior performance in surgical applications.
NITINOL SHAPE MEMORY ALLOYS
Nitinol shape memory alloys (SMAs) are advanced materials that can change shapes in response to thermal and mechanical changes, but return to their original shape following deformations. This super-elastic characteristic of Nitinol for medical device applications provides ease of access and placement of sophisticated medical devices that are kink resistant. The most significant use is in stents, guidewires and catheters. Stents and stent-based structures.
With the acquisition of Putnam Plastics in November of 2004, Memry participates in the medical device industry as a high value engineering provider of nitinol-based and polymer-based next-generation medical device components. Putnam is a specialized plastics manufacturer that provides components for medical devices such as guidewires and catheters, including delivery catheters for stents. Its primary products are complex, multi-lumen, multi-layer extrusions used for guidewires, catheters, delivery systems and various other high-end interventional medical devices.
The company also produces and sells nitinol strip, wire and tubing and wire components. Memry is focused on the value-added processing of these components such as state-of-the-art laser processing and finishing capabilities for medical stents, specialized micro coil and guidewire components and high-speed automated forming.
Memry holds 17 patents and has 12 patents pending. The company has extensive mechanical engineering, machine shop and prototype facilities for developing customer product ideas and customer-sponsored development projects. The company also offers technical expertise in the forming and assembly of SMA materials for special orders.
Memry's corporate offices and ISO 9001 manufacturing facilities are located in Bethel, Conn. The company also has ISO 9001 facilities in Menlo Park, Calif. and Putnam Plastics has ISO 9001 manufacturing facilities in northeast Conn.
